In 2004, PIA become the launch customer of the Boeing 777-200LR. On 10 November 2005 used the Boeing 777-200LR to complete the world’s longest nonstop flight by a commercial airliner. This flight lasted 22 hours and 22 minutes on the eastbound route. PIA Boeing 777 was repossessed in Kuala Lumpur after the airline was $14 million behind in payments. Airlines behind their lease payments can have planes repossessed when at the foreign outstations, which happened to Pakistan ’s flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) this week in Kuala Lumpur. A flight from Pakistan was grounded on Sunday after the left-hand engine apparently caught on fire. A PIA Pakistan International Airlines Boeing 777-200 was forced to abandon its climb at around 4,500 feet, when crew on board noticed fire warning signs on board the plane related to the engine. According to the interim injunction, PIA is restrained from moving two aircraft in its fleet – a Boeing 777- 200ER with serial number 32716 and a Boeing 777- 200ER with serial number 32717.
